PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
To assist Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs) expand their role and effectiveness in addressing
community development needs in their localities, including neighborhood
revitalization, housing, and economic development consistent with the
purposes of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of
1974. The HBCU program also encourages greater citizen participation in
the local/neighborhood planning process and, ultimately, in development
of their localities' and States' Consolidated Plan for submission to
HUD.
ELIGIBLE FUNCTIONAL CATEGORIES:
1. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT;
- Construction, Renewal and Operations;
- Land Acquisition;
2. EMPLOYMENT, LABOR, AND TRAINING;
- Job Training, Employment;
3. HOUSING;
- Homebuying, Homeownership;
- Experimental and Development Projects;
