     PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
    To establish or expand teaching capacity and develop sound research and infrastructure in family medicine, general internal medicine and general pediatrics. Grant support is awarded to meet the costs of projects to establish, maintain or improve academic administrative units (which may be departments, divisions, or other units) to provide clinical instruction in family medicine, general internal medicine, or general pediatrics. An academic unit in family medicine means a department or division of a school.

     ELIGIBLE FUNCTIONAL CATEGORIES:
    1. EDUCATION;
    - Educational Equipment and Resources;
    - Higher Education - General;
    - Resource Development and Support - Higher Education;
    2. HEALTH;
    - General Health and Medical;
    - Health Services Planning and Technical Assistance;
    - Program Development;
    3. INCOME SECURITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES;
    - Families and Child Welfare Services;
    - Specialized Services;

     WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM:
    - Public nonprofit institution/organization;
    - Private non-profit institution/organization;

    - State (includes District of Columbia, public institutions of higher education and hospitals);
