GOVERNMENT GRANTS AND LOANS
Sharing Specialized Medical Resources

    PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
    To receive and share the most advanced medical techniques; to secure the use of specialized medical resources which otherwise might not be feasibly available to the VA and to provide services to the community through specialized medical resources which are not being utilized to their maximum effectiveness within the VA. (These medical resources are "specialized" resources or underutilized resources in the sense that they are unique in the medical community or can have maximum utilization only through mutual use.)

    ELIGIBLE FUNCTIONAL CATEGORIES:
    1. HEALTH;
    - Health Services Planning and Technical Assistance;
    - Libraries, Information and Education Services;
    - Veterans Health;

    WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM:
    - Veteran/Service person/Reservist (including dependents);
    - Handicapped;
    - Physically Afflicted (e.g. TB, Arthritis, Heart Disease);

    WHO CAN APPLY:
    - State (includes District of Columbia, public institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Local (includes State-designated Indian Tribes, excludes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Public non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Other public institution/organization;
    - Private non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Quasi-public non-profit institution/organization;
    - Other private institutions/organizations;
