GOVERNMENT GRANTS AND LOANS
Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program

    PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
    To supplement and expand ongoing efforts to provide shelter, food, and supportive services for needy families and individuals. To strengthen efforts to create more effective and innovative local programs by providing supplemental funding for them. To conduct minimum rehabilitation of existing mass shelter or mass feeding facilities, but only to the extent necessary to make facilities safe, sanitary and bring them into compliance with local building codes.

    ELIGIBLE FUNCTIONAL CATEGORIES:
    1. HOUSING;
    - Experimental and Development Projects;
    2. INCOME SECURITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES;
    - Families and Child Welfare Services;
    - Information and Referral Services;
    - Nutrition;

    WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM:
    - State;
    - Local;
    - Sponsored Organization;
    - Public nonprofit institution/organization;
    - Other public institution/organization;
    - Private non-profit institution/organization;

    WHO CAN APPLY:
    - State (includes District of Columbia, public institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Local (includes State-designated Indian Tribes, excludes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Sponsored organization;
    - Public non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Other public institution/organization;
    - Private non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
