GOVERNMENT GRANTS AND LOANS
Rehabilitation Services_Service Projects

    PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
    To provide discretionary grant funds to State vocational rehabilitation agencies and public nonprofit organizations for special projects and demonstrations which hold promise of expanding and otherwise improving services to individuals with disabilities over and above those provided by the Basic Support Program administered by States.

    ELIGIBLE FUNCTIONAL CATEGORIES:
    1. EDUCATION;
    - Handicapped Education;
    2. EMPLOYMENT, LABOR, AND TRAINING;
    - Planning, Research, and Demonstration;
    - Program Development;
    - Job Training, Employment;
    - Facilities, Planning, Construction, and Equipment;
    3. HEALTH;
    - Education and Training;
    - Facility Planning and Construction;
    - Health Services Planning and Technical Assistance;
    - Program Development;
    4. INCOME SECURITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES;
    - Disabled and Handicapped Services;
    - Families and Child Welfare Services;

    WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM:
    - Individual/Family;
    - Handicapped;
    - Physically Afflicted (e.g. TB, Arthritis, Heart Disease);
    - Mentally Disabled;

    WHO CAN APPLY:
    - State (includes District of Columbia, public institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Local (includes State-designated Indian Tribes, excludes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Public non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - U.S. Territories and possessions (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Private non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Quasi-public non-profit institution/organization;
