Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Projects_State and Local Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention and Surveillance of Blood Lead Levels in Children

    PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
    To (1) Develop and/or enhance a surveillance system that monitors all blood lead levels; (2) assure that children who are potentially exposed to lead receive follow-up care; (3) assure awareness and action among the general public and affected professionals in relation to preventing childhood lead poisoning; and (4) expand primary prevention of childhood lead poisoning in high risk areas in collaboration with other government and community-based organizations.

    ELIGIBLE FUNCTIONAL CATEGORIES:
    1. HEALTH;
    - General Health and Medical;
    - Maternity, Infants, Children;
    - Prevention and Control;
    2. INCOME SECURITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES;
    - Specialized Family and Child Welfare Services;

    WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM:
    - Individual/Family;
    - Specialized group (e.g. health professionals, students, veterans);
    - Anyone/general public;
    - Infant (0-5);
    - Child (6-15);

    WHO CAN APPLY:
    - State (includes District of Columbia, public institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Local (includes State-designated Indian Tribes, excludes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Public non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Federally Recognized Indian Tribal Governments;
    - U.S. Territories and possessions (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Private non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
