GOVERNMENT GRANTS AND LOANS
President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports

    PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
    PCPFS has no grant making authority; the Council has no funds available to offer any type of financial assistance. The objectives of the PCPFS are confined to promotion of physical activity and fitness for Americans of all ages by encouraging development, implementation and improvement of physical activity, fitness and sports programs. These objectives are accomplished by providing consultation and technical assistance, general publications and a web site, and by means of program evaluation and guidance to schools, government agencies, employee organizations, industrial organizations, recreation and park departments, youth organizations and others who wish to introduce or improve physical activity and fitness or sports programs.

    ELIGIBLE FUNCTIONAL CATEGORIES:
    1. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT;
    - Recreation;
    2. EDUCATION;
    - Health Education and Training;
    - Libraries and Technical Information Services;
    - Resource Development and Support - General and Special Interest Organizations;
    3. HEALTH;
    - Health Services Planning and Technical Assistance;
    - Libraries, Information and Education Services;
    - Physical Fitness;
    - Prevention and Control;
    - Program Development;
    4. INCOME SECURITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES;
    - Information and Referral Services;
    - Youth Services;
    5. INFORMATION AND STATISTICS;
    - General;

    WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM:
    - Anyone/general public;

    WHO CAN APPLY:
    - State (includes District of Columbia, public institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Local (includes State-designated Indian Tribes, excludes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Public non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Federally Recognized Indian Tribal Governments;
    - U.S. Territories and possessions (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Private non-profit institution/organization (includes institutions of higher education and hospitals);
    - Anyone/general public;
